Interfaith Coffee Morning

 As part of Merton’s interfaith week, Muslim Women Merton held our Interfaith Coffee morning on Thursday 15 November.

MWM promoted  the weekly  ladies coffee morning to ladies of all faiths or with none We enjoyed having the Merton Mayor Councillor Mary Curtin attend and speak at the coffee morning.

We were also pleased to have Councillor Edith Macauley MBE attend and speak.

Councillor Edith Macauley MBE is Cabinet Member for Community Safety, Engagement and Equalities

and was very inspirational to our audience.

We were also pleased to have Councillor Hina Bokhari attend and speak. Councillor Hina Bokhari has attended previous events and was an inspirational speaker at our Parliamentary workshop event.

We would like to thank all the attendees, our volunteers for all their contributions,  and

MICC staff who supported us with the use of the upper hall

Inter Faith Week’s aims are to:

  • Strengthen good inter faith relations at all levels

  • Increase awareness of the different and distinct faith communities in the UK, in particular celebrating and building on the contribution which their members make to their neighbourhoods and to wider society

  • Increase understanding between people of religious and non-religious beliefs
